Arsenal’s boss is angry and says the media is ‘trying to put things on me, I never said’

Arsenal head coach Arteta said in a post-match interview after the 1-0 win against Chelsea that the media is “trying to put in place what I’ve never said before.”

Arteta said not all stack players had reached their full potential, and some reports suggested he was questioning the level of his efforts.

“I don’t accept people talking in my mouth, I’m not saying them,” he told BBC Radio 5 live.

“When it comes to my players, they fall against the wall,” he says.

He added; “It’s good that they can try to express themselves from the outside but it’s impossible to try to break what’s inside.

Emile Smith-Rowe scored the only goal at Stamford Bridge to keep the Gunners in search of European football as Chelsea suffered only their third loss under Thomas.

Arteta’s side are currently eighth in the table after winning three consecutive Premier League games but their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League have virtually faded with elimination last week in the Europa League semi-finals.

“Nothing has been broken inside (of the club),” Arteta told Sky Sports. i didn’t know they were going to try it from the outside . They tried to put what I’ve never said before.

“You can see the spirit of the team from the first minute,” he says. You can never doubt these efforts.

He said it was my fault and my responsibility if I could not get a 120% discount on each player. That is not the case in the media. I’m angry about it.

“Yesterday he appeared in the media that what he (Arteta) said was not true. This is out of context. He explained that we knew it wasn’t his opinion and we proved it tonight, supported him and did what he wanted”.
